Step 1

Let’s draw a salmon! Start by creating two sides of a triangle for the top of its head, with a rounded corner. Then draw a line starting from the bottom half of the triangle, which goes up at the end. Then add an outer line of the lower jaw by creating a curved line from the tip of the last hook. It will curve backwards, then straight to tilt down. At the back of the head, curve the line straight up.

Step 2

Next we draw the face, create a circle for the eyes, just above the mouth and a vertical curve near the back of the face for the gills. Add a curved line connecting the back of the face to the chin below the gills and the anotehr curve just above that line, joining the mouth for more detail.

Step 3

Now for the body! It’s just a curve that starts at the top of the head, curves back and into a wedge at the back. After the wedge, it will curve backwards, but don’t draw too much there!

Step 4

Add the bottom fin just in front of the wedge at the back. It will look like a fan, with stripes running vertically from the body to the edge. Draw a line to form the belly while you’re at it.

Step 5

Next we have the small fin anther. This species is very small and thin, but it will have stripes going from the body to the edge of the fins. Add the rest of the fish bottom with a curved line from the fin to the bottom of the mouth.

Step 6

Now for three more fins! A top fin will be just behind the dorsal hump, and another small fin will be just above the large lower fin. The hind fin will be a large fan, with large lines running from the back wedge to the ends of the fan shape.

Step 7

The last fin is located just behind the gills, near the base, but above the body. It will be thin and small, but still have the stripes that other fins have.

Step 8

Now place lots of dots on the back and tail of your fish. Now your salmon has been drawn!
